Recruiting for a Marketing Automation Digital Support Technician Apprentice

Technology is transforming the marketing profession, adding new tools and techniques on a daily basis. Marketing Automation has become the key to digital marketing growth and innovation.
The number of people using Marketing Automation tools has increased by 11x since 2011. 91% of marketers believe that Marketing Automation is vital for contributing to the success of their digital marketing campaigns across various channels.
Whilst traditional marketers can be taught to “use” the Marketing Automation Platform, to really get the full benefits a Marketing Automation Platform a marketing team needs access to Analytical, technical and process oriented skills to maximise the benefit of their investment in Marketing Automation technology.
These skills require more of a left brain thinker, where traditional marketing skills have required a more creative right brain dominance. These skills in a marketer along with an understanding of Marketing Automation are still scarce. As such working with us enables them to add those skills to their marketing mix and utilise us to help with the advocacy of MA within the team and wider organisation. We act like an extension of a client’s team, enabling them to maximise the benefits they get from their MA platform, and use it to remain competitive.
As a small team we are all very “hands on”, so you will get involved in a huge variety of projects and tasks. The role will be 80% external customer activity support and 20% internal operational support for the business. Although the primary role is external customer activity, we have grown rapidly and need someone to support the business to maximise our effectiveness through our internal systems for project management, client liaison process, internal administrative activity and our accounting systems, as well as our own marketing through assisting in the set up and enhancement of website & social media pages presence
For the external customer support, initially the person will provide project support to clients via myself and the Digital Marketing Executive. Tasks will vary and will evolve through the apprenticeship to include activity such as:
- Data Management, Analysis, Forensics & Segmentation within the client systems
- Work with the clients relevant digital technologies effectively to achieve client objectives (Primarily Marketo)
- Lead Lifecycle and funnel calculations
- Set up complex marketing workflows
- Be able to run an audit of a client’s Marketo system, and write up usage development reports that act as an Marketing Automation development plan for client’s
- Operate client’s Marketo System
- Investigate data queries / discrepancies
- Project Manage programs, timelines, and provide regular updates to key stakeholders and team members
- Perform regular audits and maintain integrity of lead scoring process
- Oversee database maintenance, managing data uploads and ensuring data cleanliness and integrity
- Responsible for ensuring the CRM / CMS / MA integrations / syncs are working correctly, and troubleshoot issues where they occur.
- Support clients with ongoing metrics across their systems, including lead generation reporting, lead scoring campaign effectiveness, engagement levels, funnel advancement
- Provide reports, insights and recommendations based on data
- Respond to user enquiries
- Communicate effectively though digital channels

- Maintain an awareness of current, emerging and fringe digital technologies
The Broad purpose of the Digital Support Technician Apprenticeship is to develop the skills required to be able to maximise the effective use of digital office technologies, productivity software, digital communications, including collaborative technologies, and digital information systems to achieve objectives.
Specifically for Advantage Marketing UK this apprenticeship will be centred around, learning and applying the defined apprenticeship skills through Marketo predominantly, but also where our activity crosses over with CRM & CMS.
Alongside the Apprenticeship you will be working towards gaining your Marketo Certified Associate qualification, then the Marketo Certified Expert Qualification. Eventually there is the option to work towards the highest Marketo certification, of which there are only about 150 globally. Putting you in a position with some very niche skills in a fairly new but extremely rapid growth area in marketing, where there is currently a skills gap in this area.

- Ideally some experience of Databases, or data mining, analysis & segmentation, inc. ideally an appreciation of relational databases and how they work
- IT oriented with an interest in Sales & Marketing
- Advanced excel skills i.e. pivot tables, data analysis, basic formulas
